:: History of The Bahamas Real Estate Expo ::
History was made once again on March 15th, 2008 when organizers of The Bahamas National Real Estate Trade Expo, Pedro Young and Ernesto Gongora along with their team of experts launched The Bahamas’ first ever – Real Estate Expo at The Wyndham Nassau Resort & Crystal Palace Casino.
Bahama Expos, a Bahamian company that was primarily established to promote, enhance and profile professional companies and businesses, their products and services through an organized Trade Show Exhibition, established where the top Real Estate, Insurance, and Finance Companies from New Providence, and throughout the family of Islands participated, bringing together Bahamian consumers to the Primary and Secondary Real Estate Market all under one roof.
The expo, which was co-sponsored by Nautilus and Joe Meyers Productions was attended by more than 1,000 people.
The launch and opening ceremony was held during The Wine & Cheese Cocktail Reception on Friday, March 14th, 2008. The welcome note was given by the Minister of Housing, The Honorable Kenneth Russell, who gave brief remarks and represented the Government’s support to this much needed type of event in The Bahamas.
Participants in this first ever expo included realtors from Damianos Sotheby’s International Realty, H.G. Christie Realty, Island Living, IslandEaze Realty, King’s Real Estate, Lowe’s Realty, Bahamas Realty Ltd., Coldwell Banker Realty, Dillycrab Realty of Exuma, and Sunshine Realty of Long Island all featuring beautiful properties throughout the islands of The Bahamas. |

The organizers ensured companies like The Bank of the Bahamas, RBC Finco, Scotiabank, Fidelity Bank, Commonwealth Bank and Universal Lending Centre were on hand to provide information which outlined the financial aspects of buying a home.
On hand to give advice on Title Searches, the Legal aspect and Insurance options were: First Bahamas Title Insurance, Professional Title Chambers, Davis & Co, Lincoln Bethel & Co., Callender’s & Co., Gibson Rigby & Co., CLICO, J.S. Johnson Insurance, Carib Insurance Agency Ltd., N.U.A. Insurance, Security & General Insurance. Other participants were, Bahamas Foam Insulation, Paint Suppliers, Bahamas Supply Air Conditioning, Jolly Roger, JMEL Developers, and Vision 2000 Group.A popular feature of the expo was the enlightening sessions with exhibitors that included such topics as: “Ten Steps to Success in a Softer Market”, given by world-renowned Real Estate expert, Joe Meyer of New York. Other informative topics such as: “Selling & Listing your Home, to Investing in Real Estate”, “Obtaining & Managing a Mortgage”, “Title Searching & Probate Online”, “What is Title Insurance?”, “Conveyancing”, “Understanding the Process of Purchasing Real Estate”, “Legal Fees in the Real Estate Process”, “Disputes over Property Ownership” and much more. These sessions gave the expo attendees an opportunity to gain invaluable information from all the participating exhibitors on the entire Real Estate process.
